š Itās New Yearās Eve⦠and most resolutions wonāt survive JanuaryĀ š
Most leaders I work with donāt fail because they lack motivation. They fail because they aim for too much, too fastā¦
Letās reframe that.
The misconception
New year. New you. Big goals. Radical change.
It sounds inspiring. But biology rarely works that way.
Human systems adapt best to small, consistent signals, repeated over time⦠not shock-and-awe interventions.
What the science is telling us (very clearly)
š Small changes compound
A large UK Biobank study of ~59,000 people found that modest combined improvementsĀ in sleep, physical activity, and diet qualityĀ were associated with lower all-cause mortality risk.
Not perfection. Not extremes. Just slightly better, together, consistently.
Wearable data from ~73,000 adults shows that 1 minute of vigorous activityĀ is associated with similar outcomes as 4ā9 minutes of moderate activity⦠or muchĀ longer bouts of light movement. (Biswas et al., 2025 - https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-025-63475-2 )
What this means for real leaders, real lives

Small inputs. Repeated calmly. Over time.
